I'm from MacLellans Brook, or "the Brook", Nova Scotia. It's rural, rustic, and worn with time. Currently I live in Hamilton, Ontario (also known as the Steel City so..... contrast). While I love Hamilton and the people, I miss the quiet solitude of Nova Scotia. I use a brush and palette knife to create a balance between abstraction and realism, inspired by the past of where I grew up and what the possibility of what might be.
I graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University in 2003. I took a break to enjoy my two girls when they were young and am thrilled to be back in my studio. I am honored to have been included in the following exhibits and recognitions.

I am currently working on a series called Nailed It, a deep dive into rusted nails and what they've become. Rust fascinates me; the oxidation of metal is a quiet passage of time, adding layers and personality to each nail. Did you know the best rust occurs by the ocean? Salt air makes all the difference. I'm excited to share this series as it develops!
